The new Legislature of Georgia convened at Milledgeville on Monday, the 1st inst. In the Senate, Andrew J. Miller (Whig) was chosen Speaker by 25 votes to 20 for Dunigan, Loco, and 1 scattering. Wm. H. Crawford (Whig—son of the Wm. H. Crawford who was Secretary of the Treasury, and a formidable candidate for President in 1824) was chosen Clerk by 24 to 20 for J. Hill, and 3 scattering. In the House, Charles J. Jenkins (Whig) was chosen Speaker by 68 votes to 50 for Mr. Jackson, and 9 scattering; F. A. Owen (Whig) Clerk. The retiring Gov. Crawford's Message is long and able, and entirely devoted to State affairs. It represents the financial condition of Georgia as healthy and prosperous.—Boston Atlas.
