Vienna, Sept. 24. The Rohan minister has just given the strongest assurances that positive orders have been sent to Count Soltikoff to push his operations with all possible vigour, and to endeavour to make himself master of some fortress in Sileia or Brandenburgh in order to secure winter quarters in the territories of the King of Prussia, that his army may take the field next year as soon as the season will permit. At the issue of a long council held on this affair, orders were sent to Marshal Daun to act with as much vivacity as possible, and, if he found a proper opportunity, to run the risque of a battle, not only to preserve Dresden, but also to gain a footing in Brandenburgh. The like orders had been sent him several times before, but these are positive, because the Court perceives that affairs have been drawn into length, and that an end must be put to such a bloody and burthensome war. The court thought they could crush the King of Prussia almost without striking a blow; but they are now sensible of their mistake, and that they must risque all to destroy him; and even foresee that it will be very difficult to accomplish his ruin, because they let slip the favourable opportunity for it.
