While Budget Drive Officially Closed
Hope Is Expressed that Quota Will Be Raised Soon
The drive for its annual budget, of which Putnam's quota was set at $1,700, has been under way for the past two or three weeks and the Salvation Army's corps of workers have been throughout the city in a systematic canvass. Officially the campaign closed Saturday. This was tag day and the most successful one ever held.
The total gathered from the sale of tags was $156, this being $28 more than ever realized before. It also brought the grand total of the campaign up to $1,205, or $495 short of the goal.
While Saturday officially closed the drive it is anticipated that a number of belated donations will come in.
The amount needed to make the $1,700 desired is so small that it is sincerely hoped that those who have not sent contributions will do so and put Putnam over the top.
The relief work of the Army, as of all other organizations so engaged, is more burdensome than ever. More people are applying for relief than ever before and more homes where there are destitute families, including small children, are being discovered.
It is only through the generosity of our citizens that this imperative relief can be afforded. Donations at this time are especially welcome.
