AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SERVICE
As Boy Scout field representative Robert Dill stressed, when he was here from Seattle a few weeks ago, effective conduct of scouting activity depends upon leadership. There must be adult leaders who are willing to give of their time and ability to help the boys in this worthwhile youth training.
Most smaller communities have difficulty in this respect and Juneau is no exception. It is hard to get able men who can find time from their other affairs to take an active interest in working with the Scouts.
The leadership Juneau Scouts have at the present is excellent in quality, but limited in numbers. A few able leaders are called upon to carry a much larger part of the work than they should be required to assume. They should have some help.
Thursday evening in the City Hall a meeting has been called with that as its aim—getting together men in the community who are interested in scouting and are willing to give some of their time to it. It should be a large meeting and attended by men representative of the community and our civic organizations.
Out of it should come those who are willing to share the responsibility of helping the Boy Scout movement here by taking an active interest.
