PARIS, Jan. 11 (AP)-Poetry and politics is a rare mixture, but Senator Lucien Hubert, minister of justice and vice premier in the Tardieu cabinet, shows that they can be blended.
He started as a poet in 1886 at the age of 18. His first effort was "Hours of Folly," and he followed it up with other books of verse at the rate of one a year for a considerable period.
Latterly he has abandoned verse for prose, and the muse of poetry for the muse of history in her severer aspect. His latest publication was "A Colonial Policy, With Or Against Islam."
