RAIN FORCES PUGS INDOORS
Men Who Will Fight Here Friday Night Handicapped in Workouts

Jupiter Pluvius, the evil omen of all outdoor sports, came out of hiding in the past few days and threw his forces against the efforts of the pugilists taking part in the American Legion boxing carnival to be held at the city gym on Friday night, May 18.

The rain prevented contestants from indulging in any outdoor training but all have been working hard indoors and are in the pink of condition for Friday night. English and Edwards will give a public demonstration tomorrow evening.

Al Edwards and Claude English, who meet in the main bout of the evening are both working hard and are quite confident of victory. The managers of both men have been putting them through their paces at full speed and both predict that their man will win by a knockout.

The "Masked Marvel" stated yesterday that Mr. Few had irked him considerably with his braggadocious statements of late and but for the fact that his artistic temperament prevented him from appearing except in a public performance, he would have handled the battling florist a couple of smacks in the snoot before now.

When informed of the above, Mr. Few laughed gently up his sleeve, the chuckles coming out of a hole at the shoulder, and continued his thumb twiddling exercises.

John Loy, chairman of the Legion committee requests that the following be at the city gym at 7:15 Friday evening: Al Edwards, Claude English, C. Few, Son Peterson, the Masked Marvel, Junior Brown, George Gibbins, Jr., Holman Byers, Donald Parker, Bearcat Davis, Ernest Morris, Jack Roper, Manuel Johnson and Fred Sloop.

Jim Duff, in charge of ticket sales stated this morning that the ringside seats were going fast and that tickets for the bouts were on sale at all drug stores.
