On Sunday evening, March 26 at 8 o'clock, the choir of Second Baptist Church will present its annual Easter Cantata. "The Thorned Crowned King" by R. M. Stults will be performed. This cantata is reputed to be one of the favorite Easter cantatas, and choirs all over the country sing this sacred work during the Easter season. Easter is the Holiest of Holy seasons and the music departments of various churches throughout the country play an important role in telling the tale of the death and resurrection of our Savior.
A choir of thirty voices combined with soloists and the organ will be heard in this rendition. The Second Baptist Church Choir is under the direction of Prof E. J. Josey, Minister of Music. Dr. J. L. Wilson, organist of St. John Baptist Church will serve as guest organist. Rev. Edgar P. Quarterman is pastor of Second Baptist Church, Mrs. Cornelia Green is president of the choir, and Mrs. Marian Gibson is organist. The public is invited to attend the performance.
