SHE NOW SUFFERS FROM CONCUSSION OF THE BRAIN-MISHAP WHICH BEFELL A NUTTING PARTY.
Mrs. Henry Meyers, aged 55, residing at 818 North F street, was seriously injured yesterday in a runaway accident that occurred south of Richmond, near Kitchell's Station. Mrs. Meyers was injured by jumping from the rig, and she is now suffering from brain concussion. At a late hour last night she was still unconscious.
Mrs. Meyers, Mrs. Edward Brown, Miss Jennie Brown and Mrs. Crystal formed a nutting party and were intending to spend the day near Kitchell's. Near the home of Thomas Galvin, the shaft of the surrey broke, striking the horse's legs and causing him to make a wild dash down the road. Mrs. Meyers and Mrs. Crystal both jumped, but the latter escaped injury. Mrs. Brown and daughter remained in the vehicle and managed to guide the frightened animal off the roadway and into a fence, thus ending the runaway. Both were thrown out by force of the collision with the fence, but were not injured to any degree. Mrs. Meyers was given attention by Dr. Yencer of Boston, and later was brought to her home in Richmond.
