A gentleman from Guadeloupe, mentions that report was current, that the British had commenced to consider, after the 1st of Dec. the islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and Cuba, in a state of blockade—Such a report was received here a few days since from London—and such a measure is to be apprehended if a general blockade should not take place.
By sloop from the Revenge, arrived at New York on the 18th; and the Revenge made her passage in 42 days. She had sailed, that the French Emperor had to our Minister in his protests, that he then considered any nation as an enemy in which a British Minister was permitted to reside.
