Full Text

No News.—The Pony on Tuesday did not bring any news from the East—either by telegraph or letter,—and it is believed that communication has been cut off by way of Missouri, on account of difficulties at or near Kansas City. To ascertain how serious these troubles are, further news must determine. It is likely they may become so formidable as to cause a change in the Pony and Overland Mail route from the present line through Missouri to Iowa. The route could be changed to make the starting point on the Mississippi at Burlington or Davenport, and from thence to Council Bluffs. This would place the service beyond the danger of interruption except by the snows of winter. The same dispatch could not be had as present, as the lines of Railroad in Iowa have not progressed as far as those of Missouri; but railroad connection from the Mississippi to Council Bluffs is something not far removed.
