CONGRESS.

The House of Representatives met and formed a quorum at 11 o'clock, when a ballot was proceeded with for the election of a Speaker and Clerk.

The Hon. THEODORE SEDGWICK, Esq. was chosen Speaker.

And JONATHAN WILLIAMS CONDY, Esq. was elected Clerk.

The votes for Speaker were as follows:
Mr. Sedgwick 44
Mr. Macon - 26.
Mr. Dent 13.
Mr. Rutledge 2.

For clerk, the votes were as follows:
Mr. Condy 47.
John Beckley 38.

A quorum of the Senate having also assembled, a Committee was appointed by that Body, who together with a Committee on the part of the House, having waited on the President, reported that he will meet the two Houses in the Representatives' Chamber, to-morrow, at 12 o'clock.
