N E W YORK. March 14.

Tuesday last came up the Spanish Ship mentioned in last Monday's Gazette. to be taken by Capt. Hadden, and to have arrived at the Hook. She is not as yet condemned,- In searching the Cabin we hear, upwards of 200 French Crowns and Pistolets were found. Yesterday the Ship Earl of Halifax Packet Capt. Morris. sail'd from hence with the Mail for Falmouth; in whom went Passenger Baron Diekau, the French General that was taken by Sir William Johnson, at the late Battle at Lake George. The same Day was sent in shore by the Privateer Brig Prince of Orange, Capt. Dixon of this Port, the Brig Defiance, Capt. Jones, of Rhode Island, and Sloop Peggy. Capt, Close of St. Kitts. a French Letter of Marque Ship, called the Le Fidelle, of 12 Carriage Guns. Monsieur Augusta Finne. late Commander, with 138 Soldiers on board, bound from Rochelle for St. Domingo, but was taken by Capt. Jones, on the 6th of February, off the Island of Hispaniola, after an Engagement of three Glasses : The Soldiers they put on board a Spanish Sloop then in Company, who had at different Times before met with the Privateer Sloops Squirrel. Weelel. and Elizabeth of this Port, all well on board, but had taken nothing. And the next Day the same Privateers fell in with, and took a Ship and Sloop from Bourdeaux for St. Domingo also; and on the 10th took another Ship from Bourdeaux for St. Domingo likewise ; all which were ordered for this Port, and may be daily expect- ed if not prevented by the hard Norths.

Same privateers captured ship and sloop from Bordeaux to St. Domingo next day, and another ship on Feb 10, all bound for New York.
