Full Text

Mr. Dolph of Oregon, who is very inferior material for a federal senator, remarked last Friday in the course of his weary tariff talk that congress must determine whether it will legislate in the interest of England, Europe and Asia or in the interest of the people of this country. That is very true, and Mr. Dolph ought to have been guided by his own doctrine during the extra session. He fought silver at every turn and voted first and last with the goldbugs, making himself the pliant tool of the foreign bankers at whose dictation Mr. Dolph and his republican associates have been dishonoring silver these many years.
