SEATTLE, (AP) — Alaska Airlines passenger traffic between Seattle and Fairbanks established a record increase during November, amounting to twice as many passengers as carried in November, 1957.
Charles Willis Jr., president, said 905 passengers flew "Golden Nugget" schedules last month against 455 a year ago. This equalled 55 per cent of the total of 1,632 Seattle-Fairbanks passengers carried by airlines serving the route, Willis said.
Similar increases during other months of 1958 also were reported. Willis credited DC-6C daily service begun in April as the main factor. It was also announced that Alaska Airlines has been authorized to carry first class mail between Seattle and Alaska from December 12 to 31, the first time surface mail has been carried to Alaska from the U. S. by air.
