Israel Refugees Housed In Tents; Funds Needed

MAKESHIFT TENT accommodations like these are the best that Israel has been able to provide so far for tens of thousands of Jewish refugees streaming in from Europe with the aid of UJA funds. Above, an elderly couple stand before their tent in one of the 25 transit camps that have been set up. The picture below shows one of the tent-dwelling families, living in conditions little better than those of the DP camps they left. To make good the promise of a new life for the 250,000 refugees, the American Jewish community must provide funds for immediate construction of a large number of housing units.
