Bacon Appointed Acting Farm
Short Course Director at U. of D.

Robert J. Bacon, research instructor in animal and poultry industry, has just been appointed as Acting Director of Agriculture Short Courses at the University of Delaware, announced George M. Worilow, Director of Agricultural Extension Service and Agricultural Experiment Station, today.

Bacon has been research instructor at the university since 1949, working on the artificial breeding of dairy cattle, and teaching classes in livestock management and livestock production.

Besides his duties as director, Bacon will teach classes in beef cattle and dairy judging at the Short Course.

A resident of Wilmington, Bacon received his Bachelor's degree in animal husbandry from Pennsylvania State College in 1948 and his master's degree in agriculture from the University of Delaware in 1949. He also served in the veterinary corps of the U. S. Army during World War II.

Bacon succeeds W. C. Skoglund, who is leaving Delaware to take over the chairmanship of the poultry department at the University of Massachusetts.
