THE MORALIST.

While famine, in her most horrid form, has pervaded the kingdoms of Europe, and thousands been the sacrifice--have we not had an abundance in our land, sufficient for man and beast?

While bloodshed and devastation attend the revolutions of government in the old world--have we not been directed and guided to the establishment of an energetick national government, in peace--and with a success scarcely hoped?

And whilst wars and rumours of wars are agitating and desolating the earth, and the sound thereof has not been in our land, have we not abundant cause for praise, adoration and homage to the giver of these good gifts--and ought we not to strive by an observance of his laws and submission to his divine will, still to continue to be the objects of his benediction?

Surely we ought. The duty is easy--the reward will be immense.
