Extract of a letter from a gentleman at Washington, to his friend in Philadelphia, dated April 30, 1806.

"We have just received the intelligence from New-York, of the murder of Pierce by a shot from the Leander. It has produced a strong sensation here, and it is generally believed by those with whom I have conversed, that FIVE FRIGATES will be ordered immediately for New-York, and that every vessel that can carry a gun will immediately be got in readiness--and that congress will be summoned to meet as early as the middle of June."
