TO VISIT TRINIDAD
Frank J. Hayes, vice president of the United Mine Workers of America, one of the most noted labor leaders in the world, will visit Trinidad during the week of the annual convention of the Colorado State Federation of Labor.
While here he will visit the coal fields of Las Animas county.
He is in Colorado at this time advancing the movement of organizing the coal miners.
He will deliver an address in this city.
Hayes is only thirty-one years of age, the youngest labor leader in the world, having been active as a union organizer since he was sixteen years of age.
He has absolute control over 14,000 coal miners in the state of Colorado.
He was the man selected by president John P. White to come to this state and carry on the organization work.
He came here after he had helped the miners to organize in West Virginia.
Hayes has a wealth of brilliant red hair and has more of the bearing of a sedate lawyer or business man than labor leader.
He is one of the leaders of the Socialist party.
In the state of Illinois Hayes has been nominated for governor, U. S. Senator, congressman, and for other minor offices by the Socialist party.
Vice president Hayes will probably come here a week or so before the labor convention.
He aims to confer with the coal mining officials.
