ON JUNE 21, 1962

INQUIRER and Editor Holman Wins APSA Newspaper Award

The American Political Science Association with headquarters in Washington, D. C., selected the Inquirer's Editor, M. Carl Holman and the Atlanta Inquirer for one of its 1962 Awards for outstanding news reporting and editorials in politics and public affairs.

The Inquirer was one of 14 southern newspapers selected out of some 40 newspapers given final consideration in the competition. Among the other 14 winners were outstanding papers such as the Washington Post.

The Inquirer and Mr. Holman are scheduled to receive special awards a formal presentation in September, 1962. In addition, Mr. Holman will be invited to attend an all-expense paid one week seminar, which will include some of the nation's top political scientists and journalists. The seminar will take place after the November, 1962 elections.

This political science project is financed through a grant from the Ford Foundation.
