Full Text

Mr. Hunter And Gov. Wise—The Democracy of other States besides Virginia, are looking with concern upon the controversy which is likely to become warmer between these two gentlemen for the Senatorship. No good result can proceed from a struggle of this sort. We shall take no part in it; but we cannot forbear remarking that it is for the Democratic members of the Assembly of that State, and for them alone, to say who shall be the Senator. Newspaper discussions may excite the public Democratic mind of the State, but it is by no means certain that they will give it a proper or just direction.
