BOSTON - (ANP) Sandy Amaros, one-time star outfielder with the Brooklyn Dodgers, last week was traded to the Detroit Tigers by the now Westcoast-based Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for Gail Harris, a first baseman, in a straight player deal announced here.
Amaros, used this season by L.A. as a pinch-hitter, was brought up from the Dodgers farm club in Montreal where he spent most of last year. In 14 times at bat he collected only two hits for a .143 average. However, his fielding, always his forte, was flawless.
Harris was less fortunate. After the Tigers obtained his contract, they shipped him immediately to St. Paul in the American Association. As a pinch-hitter, Harris had no hits in five times at bat.
