THE SMALL THINGS.
It seems to be characteristic of our government to take undue note of the small things while major things are passing unnoticed or with scant attention. In New York recently the courts spent much time in trying to decide whether a woman should be handled for possessing a small quantity of home-made wine, which, she alleged, became wine of its own accord. The supreme court finally decided that the stuff must be confiscated. In the meantime hundreds of bootleggers of international reputation are going about their business without serious molestation.
And while Governor Richards has busied himself tremendously with the matter of golfers playing on Sunday, little attention has been given to our horrible murder record.
