THE ALBINESS.
We took an early opportunity yesterday morning to visit the celebrated Albiness, who has recently arrived in this city from England via Canada, and were gratified at finding a large circle of ladies and gentlemen already assembled at her room. Her deportment was uncommonly correct, without either a timidity that would have been inconsistent with her pursuit, or any improper forwardness that might render her an object of disgust. Her features cannot be called beautiful but her complexion is of the most transparent purity, though its appearance is certainly unnatural. Her hair is of the brightest flax colour, resembling tresses of fine floating silk, and falls over her shoulder in the most luxuriant folds. Her eyes are of a bright pink colour. They have a tremulous motion of which she is herself unconscious, and vary their hues as she changes her position and receives the reflection of light. How the phenomenon is to be explained, we leave for our medical and philosophical friends. We can only say that we regarded it with singular curiosity. She states that there are six children of the family, three of which have dark hair and eyes, and the eyes, complexion and hair of the other two, are like her own.
