Another Interpretation of the Cushing Letter. When Mr. Cushing sent his letter to Massachusetts, as a sort of manifesto against the Abolitionists of that quarter, it appears that it was really intended to operate in an opposite direction. Developments are made which go to show that it was intended to influence the approaching election in the State of Mississippi. One of the papers of that State announces that a letter was forwarded to Mr. Nicholson, of the Washington Union, inquiring into the Free Soil affinities of the Administration, and it was answered by enclosing a copy of Mr. Cushing's letter, with the request that it should be spread before the people of Mississippi with all possible despatch. Was the letter written for such a purpose? Without knowing these facts, we attributed some game of the kind to the cunning Attorney General. This is pretty work for a Cabinet member to be engaged in.—Richmond Whig.
