Full Text

CHAPEL HILL—"Prosthodontics at the Crossroads" is the title of a lecture delivered the other day by the UNC professor of dentistry, Dr. Paul W. Vinton.

If you didn't know what prosthodontics means, the title might not convey too much—and the reader would have a vague idea of something like a graduating senior at the crossroads, or dirty work at the cross roads, or a stop-and-go light at the crossroads.

But since prosthodontics is that branch of dentistry which deals with replacements for teeth, "Prosthodontics at the Crossroads" takes on a special significance.

That branch of dentistry and the molars and bicuspids of men and women may indeed be at a crossroads, approaching a new milestone.

However, we can be certain that modern dental science, as exemplified by the new School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill, will be able to bridge the gap.
