MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29.

SERIOUS ALARM

A dreadful alarm took place at the Old Methodist Meeting-House in this city yesterday. The Rev. Doct. Jennings Preached at that place by appointment, and the house was completely crowded in every part--in this situation, a lady in one of the upper galleries fainted, and in falling from her seat drew down one or two others with her, which shook the upper part of the house considerably: in an instant the cry of earthquake! fire! gallery falling! &c. &c. resounded from every quarter, and the pressure and confusion which ensued was terrible indeed! Many were thrown down and trampled on, and numbers precipitated themselves from the upper windows. We are happy however to state, that no lives were lost; but several persons have received severe bruises, &c. &c.
