Washington, Feb. 27.-Airplane mail service between New York and Washington will be in daily operation, beginning April 15, the postoffice department announced today.
Eight machines will be furnished by the war department. By arrangement between Postmaster-General Burleson and Secretary Baker, the aerial postal service will be conducted for one year as part of the aviation training system of the army. The machines will be piloted by army fliers.
One trip each way will be made daily, except Sunday. on a fixed schedule. The flying time between New York and Washington is estimated at less than three hours, including a stop to deliver mail at Philadelphia.
