Saturday, February 8 marks the birth of a new political party in Meade county. On that date in the Sourbeer hall, those who embrace the Progressive faith, met for the purpose of perfecting a permanent organization in Meade county. A large number from all parts of the county attended and the meeting is reported as having been a very enthusiastic one.
H. H. Butler, president of the Roosevelt Club, called the meeting to order. O. R. Stevens, of Meade, was elected Chairman and J. B. McClure, of Fowler, Secretary.
The following precinct committeemen were chosen:
Meade Center—O. R. Stevens
Fowler—J. B. McClure
Plains—A. M. Hughbanks
Mertilla—L. A. Carter
Crooked Creek—B. F. Leach
Logan—R. W. Grubbs
Sand Creek—Judson Hulburt
Odee—Henry Eckhoff
Cimarron—Ed Feldman
The county committee was organized with O. R. Stevens as Chairman and J. B. McClure, of Fowler, Secretary.
O. R. Stevens, county chairman, represented the new organization in Meade county at the state meeting held in Topeka on Wednesday of this week.
The Progressive party will have a complete ticket in the field at the next regular election.
