A dreadful instance of the effects of ungoverned passion occurred on Monday evening last, among a number of individuals who had been visiting Little Falls on business during the day. It appears that one William Knox, a resident of Stratford, Fulton county; while proceeding on the road leading from Little Falls, through Manheim northward, in company with some residents of the latter town, used abusive language in regard to some women, also in company, one of them the wife of Abraham Casler—Enraged at this, Casler, who was some distance in advance, returned with a sled stake and gave Knox a blow on the head which rendered him insensible and caused his death a few hours after. We have heard that Knox and Casler were more or less intoxicated.—A coroner's inquest has been held but we have not heard the verdict. Casler was last evening taken into custody.—Herkimer Journal
