Full Text

PORTSMOUTH, February 18.

Yesterday his Excellency JOHN LANGDON, Esquire, set out from this town for New-York, to take his seat in the senate of the United States. His Excellency was escorted as far as Greenland (where a collation was provided) by a number of respectable gentlemen, citizens of this town. The inclemency of the weather prevented many citizens from paying this patriotic gentleman that respect, on his quitting the town, which his exertions in the cause of Freedom and good Government, so justly entitled him to receive.

After partaking of a collation at Greenland, his Excellency took an affectionate leave of his friends, received their warmest wishes for his welfare, and proceeded on his journey.
