The O. A. K.'s in Indiana.—The following is the letter of information, dated at an eastern city, on which Gov Morton of Indiana acted in seeking out the copperhead conspirators in Indianapolis last Saturday night. The revolvers and ammunition, it will be seen, were landed at New York from the Hartford steamers, and were probably obtained either in Hartford or this city, though not necessarily of any one cognizant of their designation:—

, August 17, 1864.

" Gov O. P. Morton: Sir,—The facts hereby stated have come to my knowledge in a manner and from a source such as to leave no doubt in my mind of their reliability: The copperheads of Indiana have ordered and paid for 50,000 revolvers, with forty-two boxes fixed ammunition, to be distributed amongst the antagonists of our government, for the purpose of controlling the presidential election. August 5, the steamer Granite State landed in New York forty-two boxes of revolvers and ammunition: August 6, the steamer City of Hartford landed twenty-two boxes ammunition, destined for Indianapolis. Thirty-two boxes of the above have been forwarded to J. J. Parsons, Indianapolis, via Merchants' dispatch, and marked —; the balance is stored at No. — — street, New York, awaiting the convenience of the copperheads to pay for the same before shipping."

Gov Morton acted promptly on the information received in this letter, and how well he succeeded in getting hold of the arms in Indianapolis, as well as the official list of the members of the association, the great seal of the order, and many copies of the ritual, has already been told by telegraph. We do not suppose after this that even the most skeptical will doubt the existence of secret societies or organizations in the interest of the copperheads, whose object is to overthrow the government and help the rebellion, peaceably if they can, if not forcibly. But it does seem queer that men who are making such extensive preparations for hostilities, should be so particular to be known to the outside world as peace men. A raft of correspondence has fallen into the hands of the authorities at Indianapolis, and almost all the leading copperheads in the country, among the rest Vallandigham and Voorhees are implicated in these plottings against the government. None of the correspondence of consequence is yet published, but it is intimated that it will be when the right time comes, and it will doubtless be entertaining reading.
