My dear Boys and Girls:
Half of the school year is gone, and now we begin the second semester. We shall have some new faces coming to us and a great many changes. Little birds, rabbits, possums and chickadees will be coming in to the kindergarten for the first time. Other kindergarten children will be stepping up to become first graders and each grade will be moving up a half notch higher. Low first becomes high first and the high first goes to low second. Some move along, and I believe we shall be happily. Some of us will have new teachers; we will work in new projects; those in the junior and senior high school will move into new fields; sometimes new subjects that we have never tried before. The new shop that is interesting: the new home economics class becomes a happy place for us to learn. We shall be re-grouped with other boys and girls that we have not known and we shall have the glorious opportunity of making new friends as well as keeping the old.
The senior high pupils will receive their diplomas. Some of them will go on to college, or begin to work in a store or shop, an office or a factory. Isn't life a lot of fun?
To each and to every one at the beginning of the semester I send word—of greeting and goodwill and ask each of you to begin at the very outset of a new term to make your plans for a better and finer year than you have ever known before.
Always your friend.
Willis A. Sutton,
Superintendent of Schools.
