SPIRITUALISM.—Many of the outsiders are apt to believe that the goings-on of the Spiritualists are confined to oral and written communications from the other world, and to nothing else Such is not the case, the Spirits are all accomplished, and although they have never yet been drawn up, it would be a first rate speculation to get the spirits of some of the ancient painters, to set to work, and paint a gallery of pictures of the old masters, which might be preserved as a National Gallery here at Washington, in the Capitol, or Patent Office, or Smithsonian Institution, or in some other appropriate place. We are induced to make these remarks, from a drawing handed over to us for inspection, representing a cherry of the third sphere of the spirit world, with the leaves. It was drawn by the spirits through the hand of A. F. Cunningham, in thirty minutes, and although it has nothing very particular in its appearance, being a mere sketch, will do very well for a beginner. Indeed, it can only be looked upon as a curiosity in the art of drawing from the spirit world, and was evidently done by some spirit who had never before taken a pencil in his hand. We have, therefore, returned it to its proprietor, as not being sufficiently good to be preserved, and wait in hope, until the spirit of Titian, or Correggio, or Annibal Caracci can be induced to take the pencil in hand, and give us some visible representations of the invisible world, which will outdo all the renowned paintings that are in existence.
