On Poor Sanitary Conditions
Vincent Curran, newly appointed Union Chairman of Sanitation in the Electric Boat Company, has taken up pertinent matters of serious sanitary conditions particularly in the Main Yard area.
The new Director of Sanitation and Safety for the Electric Boat has agreed with suggestions put forward by Brother Curran. Most important of which is the closing of BIG BERTHA for extensive repairs and the installation of a new and modernly equipped toilet, such as those ones now operating in the Victory Yard area.
Suggestions have also been forwarded for the men's room adjoining the carpenters' shop in North Yard. The wall bowl type of urinals are to be replaced by a base type to improve the sanitary conditions in the shops where they are located.
These and many other improvements are now under way, and the management has shown approval and promised cooperation. Things are really looking up!
