The Excursion to the Gas Wells—The Utah Central Open—Notes.

The excursion to the gas wells over the Union Pacific was a complete success. Over three hundred people went up and all were delighted with the trip. The gas had been conveyed to a point about three thousand feet from the well and the illumination was a grand one. D. E. Burley, of the Union Pacific, and Mr. Constant, the manager of the gas company, were both present and looked after the comfort of the excursionists.

An immense crowd of country folks had gathered about the wells, and the scene there was a very animated one. The enterprising photographer was on hand and took several snap shots at the illumination.

TO THE GAS WELLS.

The Denver & Rio Grande railroad will run an excursion train from Salt Lake to the gas wells on Thursday evening next, leaving the city at 7 o'clock. Round trip fare 50 cents. Also a special will be run from Ogden to the wells; round trip fare 75 cents.

The wells will be illuminated with twenty lights in the three national colors, red, white and blue.

It is expected the third well will be completed by Wednesday night and will be tapped for the first time on Thursday evening.

The Denver & Rio Grande will run a excursion train from Ogden to Salt Lake on Thursday. Fare $1.50 for the round trip.
The U. C. Open.

The Utah Central railway, between Salt Lake and Park City, is now open, and trains will run regularly hereafter. The train yesterday left and arrived promptly on schedule time. The company is now handling, in addition to the passenger business, fifteen to twenty cars of freight daily.

The efforts of Superintendent Thomas Mackintosh in opening the road in the face of almost insurmountable difficulties are worthy of the highest praise.
