University Attaining Peak Use in Wartime

Ann Arbor, May 3—Clark Tibbitts, educational director of the University's Division for Emergency Training, announces that the University of Michigan is rapidly approaching peak wartime operation, with the entire plant utilized on a year-around basis.

He says, "By midsummer, between 3,000 and 4,000 uniformed men will be enrolled in emergency curricula developed by the Army and Navy and taught by the University staff. Facilities devoted to subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, history, engineering, English, and languages will then be in day and night use.

It is correct and not immodest to state that its staff, laboratories, classrooms and residence halls place the University in a position second to none in facilities available to members of the armed forces."
