Big Twisters Smash Through U. S. Midsection

Tornadoes raked the Midwest again last night. One person died and 28 were injured when a big twister smashed through Meriden, Kans. a town of 400, north of Topeka.
The tornado, which ran a 100-mile course, was part of a violent thunderstorm system which crackled over Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa.
The storm, still active in Iowa today, sloshed heavy rains and peppered hailstones on many localities. It unleashed 70-mile winds which did heavy damage.
