Full Text
We did not insinuate that the printers of the federal paper in this town had suppressed any part of capt. Orwar's statement, respecting his treatment by the British ship Guerrier. We reprobated their conduct in passing over the subject too lightly. We however now say we believe they did, and our authority is Capt. Orwar, who certainly, from appearances, is entitled to credit. Had these printers exercised a little more discretion, we should not have investigated the subject any farther, and should have believed them even more candid than we now do. And we further take the liberty of thinking, their report of the impressment of an American seamen from the ship Mary, is a very modest one, although we are assured they had verbally a circumstantial account of that wicked transaction.
