Augustus Saint-Gaudens's statue of Deacon Samuel Chapin, which adorns Merrick park, is one of the 32 best examples of American sculpture, photographic representations of which are being shown in the Horace Smith hall of sculpture. The list was made up from the votes of critics named by the American federation of fine arts and includes work done by French, MacMonnies and others. Saint-Gaudens's fine representation of Lincoln, which is in Lincoln park, Chicago, was awarded first place, and the same sculptor's monument to Robert Gould Shaw near the State House in Boston was given second position. The local Saint-Gaudens work is listed 18th.

C. French, which is located in Mt Auburn cemetery, Cambridge; the Adams monument, "Grief," or "Peace of God," in Rock Creek cemetery, Washington, D. C.; statue of Farragut in Central park, New York city; MacMonnies's statue of Nathan Hale in City Hall park, New York city; "Sun Vow," by Herman MacNeil, owned by Howard G.
