They have long twilights in Alaska. A letter dated Sitka, June 24th, says: "Since arriving here it has been delightful, clear and calm, and it seems impossible to believe me when I say I have laid in my bunk and read until 12 o'clock at midnight, receiving air from the outside through the air port. The days now are gradually getting short, and in a few months, or at least in September, the lights will have to be lit at six o'clock in the evening, and in the months of December, January, February. "Old Sol" sits about two o'clock in the afternoon. The mountains are always covered with snow throughout the summer."
