DANGEROUS FORGERIES.

Bankers in New York are very uneasy at the forgeries which have been perpetrated recently by means of a patent ink eraser, that will remove red and black ink marks, but has no effect on blue ink. Most of the bankers have begun using blue ink, and scrutinize checks very closely. The frauds by the alteration of checks, thus far discovered, exceed $100,000, and the perpetrators have not been found. Several bank officers are considering the propriety of offering a large reward for the forgers, and an extra force of private police will be on hand to arrest any person presenting altered checks.
