Rev. Smith Speaks Before Baptist Divines Here
By Taschereau Arnold
The Rev. T. W. Smith, worthy and high esteemed pastor of Tabernacle Baptist church preached one of the greatest sermons that I have ever heard, and there is no exception to the afore mentioned fact. The speaker spoke from the subject, "The Duty of Christians as Citizens." He handled his subject with ability and credit to himself and the Atlanta Ministerial rank in particular.
"All that it takes to be a citizen of the state and nation," says he, "it takes that much and more besides to be a citizen of God's Kingdom." He said that a good citizen will pay his taxes, and reaffirmed his belief in the fact that "God still uses men to carry on his business."
Finally Rev. Smith lambasted unmercifully those ministers who say that prayer will not do any good in these most dangerous days of depression. Rev. Smith declares manfully that prayer will help and relieve these conditions, or it will open the bottom door of heaven and let the blessing down. Rev. Smith is a great pastor and a successful leader.
