Everybody seems to be busy getting ready for winter of which we have a foretaste already, white frosts and cold nights having made their appearance.
The M. E. preacher did not get his family moved here to the parsonage last week, but they will be here this week nothing preventing.
Mrs. Fannie Brown, widow of Abram Brown, and her son Cloud Brown of Zanesville were dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Rosa Young and Mrs. Pauline Gibson and three little girls at their home.
The Browns were former residents of Rural Dale a number of years ago; also the Misses Ollie and Florence Hall of Columbus were guests of Mrs. Young Sunday.
As Sunday was an ideal day to be out doors, everybody having an auto was out with car filled to nearly overflowing, visiting or calling on friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Roberts who spent a fortnight visiting their daughter Mrs. Lucina Musser and husband of Jane Lew, W. Va., have returned home.
Robert Buchanan whom we have often mentioned as being in very poor health, doesn't seem to improve very much.
E. M. Frame, a prosperous farmer and chicken fancier here, is preparing to build another chicken house in addition to the number he already has.
Of course those of us who are not posted on the new school system are supposed not to find any fault with the way pupils are being taught under the so-called new school system, but Mr. Editor how about the pupils of the present day? How do their reading and spelling and grammar-even some who have attended a term or two of high school, compare with those that studied the McGuffey's books 25 or 30 years ago?
