Full Text

The New Orleans True American of the 10th inst., says: -

The night before last, Mr. John Donovan of this city and his lady, having had occasion to remain late from home on a visit, left their two young children in charge of a servant, who was directed to give the children, in case they were restless, a small quantity of paregoric.

The case occurred, but instead of paregoric, the servant mistook the phial, and gave the laudanum, the effects of which were fatal to both of them.

No comment is needed - let parents take warning; and throw away not only the laudanum, but the paregoric also, if they have any in the house.
