Peterborough, August 22d. 1771.
On the 16th of this Month, in the Evening, a very melancholy Accident fell out; as the only Daughter of Ensign Robert Wilson of this Place, was returning from School, her Brother was standing upon a Log of a Fence, picking some Berries, she saw the Log ready to fall, and ran to his Relief, he escaped unhurt, when the Log catched her; and went over her Body, she lived a few Hours, and then expired: She was always an obedient Child, a good Scholar, kind to her Acquaintance, which makes her untimely Death greatly lamented in this Place.
On the 10th of this Inst. John Swain and Jean Wilson, were married together, whose two Ages conjunctly, is not less than one hundred and fifty Years: Their Feast was upon the 22d Day, where, to speak within Bounds, 'tis believed, that they had six Score of People to Dinner.
