Full Text
Extract of a letter from the Territory of the United States south of Ohio, of a late date.
'The Cherokee and Creek Indians have been continually, through the whole summer, committing hostilities and depredations on the settlements of Cumberland--a white woman and three children were purchased in the month of July, by a trader in the Creek nation, for 1400 lb. of deer-skins, and brought to Knoxville. She had been taken from a station near Bledsoe's Lick, on Cumberland, where four white men were killed and several persons taken prisoners, who may not all be fortunate enough to be ransomed from torture and Indian barbarity. Several persons were killed and wounded in the months of June and July, and a great number of horses taken off from the very vicinity of Nashville.'
