Oct. 2. A Right Hon. Alderman went to Guildhall on Saturday on foot, amidst a general hiss: he went upon the hustings, and complained of his name being printed in one of the morning papers, as one of the persons who had been searching the books in the Town Clerk's office for several days, &c. and pledged his honour for his innocence. On his return from the hall, a great number of people surrounded him, showing every possible mark of contempt, and at length jostled him, and grew so outrageous, that he thought it necessary for his own safety to take shelter in the house of Messrs. Allen and Marlow, in King-street.
