NOTABLES OF EPISCOPAL CHURCH ATTEND AUSPICIOUS EVENT IN THIS CITY WEDNESDAY
Service Began at 11:00 O'clock Wednesday Morning—Benjamin F. P. Ivins Raised from Deaconhood.
Wednesday was a great day in the history of the St. Thomas Episcopal congregation, of this city. The event was the ordination of the rector, Benjamin Franklin Pierce Ivins from the office of deacon of the church to the priesthood. The ceremonies which attended the event, were most auspicious, beginning promptly at 11:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, and continuing well into the afternoon. The ceremony was the most solemn service, which has been enacted in the new church. The services were conducted by Bishop John Haven White D. D., of Michigan City, assisted by the Reverends M. M. Day of Valparaiso, W. S. Howard of South Bend, and L. T. Seofield, H. R. Neely, C. A. Smith, and L. W. Applegate.
