BOSTON, April 17.

An Act was passed by the Legislature of the state of New-York, on the 31st ult. discharging every person from imprisonment, confined in any jail in that state, for any debts, fines or forfeitures not exceeding fifteen pounds (37 and half dollars) in the whole, exclusive of costs ; and enacting, that no person, so discharged, should at any time thereafter be imprisoned for the same cause : But it is provided, that every debt and damage, judgment and decree, had or obtained against every person, so discharged, shall be good and effectual, in law, against their estates, real and personal. The act extends to all debts, fines, &c. due to the people of that state.
